OEM certification dictates repair procedure, including the tools and materials you use.
In Western Canada, the main misunderstanding many shops have is that you must be certified to work on a certain kind of vehicle.
That’s not the case — repair certification can attract the owners of certain vehicles to your shop, but it’s not mandatory, (at least not yet.)
While repair certification isn’t mandatory, having it can boost your shop.
Repair certification puts you ahead of the curve
At this point, you don’t need OEM certification, but since we know it’s coming down the pipeline, getting it means you’ll already have it while other auto body shops are scrambling to get it done.
Leverage existing branding
Auto companies spend millions, if not billions, of dollars creating and maintaining their brands. Getting certified allows you to use those existing names and reputations, attracting customers to your shop.
How do I decide what to get certified in?
It can be difficult to decide which certification will give you the most bang for your buck. Rondex is able to provide you the support you need to make that decision.
But for starters, look at the vehicles you repair most often.
In Western Canada, certification for rural vehicles can be an advantage, but reading into your audience is the best way to go. If you’re a dealership, and you have a body shop, pursue what you specialize in, and grow from there.
